Untitled Gardening Project #17

While the vibratory tumbler grinds away, continue machining.

The 48 cylinders all require 3" radius cuts nearly identical to the cut made in each disc. We can't reuse the jig for the discs for two reasons.

  • The cylinders have threaded holes, and will need to be through-bolted from below.
  • The cylinders are taller and so the cuts will apply quite a bit more twisting force to the jig; it should be made of much thicker stock.

Each cylinder will be cut .130" deep on both sides. To maintain the best possible tolerances, the jig must have two mounting surfaces. One for a flat uncut surface, and one that bolts exactly into a previous cut.
